Aluminium is a better conductor of heat, so aluminium (actually aluminium alloy) radiators are promoted as being the most efficient way of transferring heat from the system water into the room – which is important for modern condensing boilers, which are only more efficient when run at low system-water temperatures. But this needs a designed radiator system; there is no point buying one very expensive alloy rad and putting it in a circuit containing mostly steel rads – in fact all you are doing is introducing an extra metal into the chemistry of the circuit, which increases the likelihood of corrosion.
