The only time that there was even a thought that the A's might be able to rally was after Verlander came out, and Joaquin Benoit came in to pitch the ninth inning -- Oakland brought the tying run to the plate for a good scare, because Benoit never seems to make things easy. Verlander does, even in a do-or-die game.
