The Plebgate affair highlights some of the things that are wrong with the modern police. If I had taken offence every time I had been sworn at or verbally abused, I am sure that I would not have lasted 32 years. Notwithstanding the fact that the officers at the gates of Downing Street chose not to ignore what had happened, the actions of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner illustrate the poor leadership adversely affecting policing.
