Cutting the neck and allowing the animal to bleed out may be graphic but it is less painful than the beating, abuse, and live carving much of the beef in the USA enjoys during slaughter. Again, it may be messy and it makes for easy sensationalist commentary, but bleeding out an animal is a humane way to kill it. Also, it is healthier to eat animals that have been slaughtered in this manner. I believe Kosher eating requires the same.
